The essay was one long paragraph, three hundred words too long. She went on and on about her Christianity and about the cardinal sins of the story's characters. The feminine man was envious; the masculine woman was prideful. She should have honored and obeyed him; he should have put her in her place. And the second man was lustful. I told her the story could be read in terms of sin, but she hadn’t fulfilled the task. She’d have to try again.
