Yesterday was the 79th birthday of Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir, who died on 10 January 2026. On Thursday, The Good Ol’ Grateful Deadcast published an episode on Weir's 2016 album "Blue Mountain", which featured interviews with musicians involved in the making of the album: singer-songwriter Josh Ritter, bassist Scott Devendorf of The National, drummer Conrad Doucette of Takka Takka, and multi-instrumentalist and producer Josh Kaufman. Now I have learned that Kaufman plays the wonderful harmonica on one of my favorite Taylor Swift songs, "betty" from her 2020 album "folklore." Weir and Swift met at the Grammy Awards in 2025; I would have loved to hear a Kaufman-produced collaboration between them. (Andrew Shields, #111Words, 17 October 2026)
