Last night, Miles and I watched the "Community" episode "Critical Film Studies" (2011), in which Jeff (Joel McHale) goes to an expensive restaurant with Abed (Danny Pudi). While they speak over dinner, all their friends are waiting at a diner to celebrate Abed's birthday, each dressed as a character from Quentin Tarantino's "Pulp Fiction" (1994). When I realized the dinner was just like Louis Malle's "My Dinner with Andre" (1981), a movie I loved when it was released but had not thought of in ages, I paused the video to mention it to Miles, and he smiled wryly.
