To find poems for Facebook birthdays, I go through my list of online poetry magazines. When I find poems I like, I post a link on Facebook and Mastodon. I don't put dark poems in my list for birthday poems, but if they're not dark, I add them to my list and turn to the next magazine to look for another. Sometimes, I have up to ten poems saved for future birthday messages; sometimes, I catch up and get nervous about finding a new one for the next day. If it's not your birthday and you want to read a poem, check my feed to see if I've posted any today. Andrew Shields, #111words, 2 January 2026)
