Christopher Plummer's most successful film role was as Captain von Trapp in "The Sound of Music" (1965), which surpassed "Gone with the Wind" (1939) as the most successful film ever at the box office. But Plummer didn't enjoy it: "I was a bit bored with the character". Similarly, Alec Guinness's most successful film role was as Obi-Wan Kenobi in "Star Wars" (1977), which surpassed "Jaws" (1975) as the most successful film ever at the box office – and Guinness didn't enjoy it, either: He found Obi-Wan neither "clear" nor "even bearable."
