On 4 November 2020, Newt Gingrich, whose 1994 Contract with America was an early marker of the Republican Party's delegitimization of the idea of political compromise with their opponents in the Democratic Party, claimed on Fox News that the Democrats were trying to "steal the election in Philadelphia, steal the election in Atlanta, steal the election in Milwaukee." While other supporters of Donald Trump's quest to overturn the election always talked about states, Gingrich's focus on cities where the majority of the population is non-white reveals that the ultimate goal of the Republicans is to strip the right to vote from Blacks, Hispanics, Asian-Americans, and other "minorities" and re-establish white-supremacist rule.
