While the rain cools July down, Snoopy lies awake in his doghouse and reads Virginia Woolf. Jacob wanders Greece with melancholy reflections on civilization and the present day a hundred years ago. A car hisses by in the damp street, and water trickles in the gutters and eaves. Snoopy lies awake in the night, and Jacob stumbles through the day. Snoopy hasn’t slept properly since he came back from Plunderland, but he can’t stop reading about Don Q and thinking of his cruel laughter.
