There’s a long, straight path near my house that I walk down on my way to and from our neighborhood supermarket. If it’s empty when I enter it (as it often is), I get a cinematic feeling: I am a character walking down the path, and my eyes are the subjective camera. As I walk, another character is about to turn into the path ahead of me, and something is going to happen: that other person may confront or threaten me. Or perhaps I will be excited to see the other person, but they are actually about to betray me. Walking down long empty corridors, I experience the same cinematic effect. A path between two hedges, at dusk, with nobody on it and light in the distance.
A long straight path that someone could suddenly appear in.
