In "The Avatar State", an episode in "Avatar: The Last Airbender", the scene cuts from Princess Azula's refusal to recognize how the physical world puts limits on her authority to Avatar Aang's audience with General Fong of the Earth Kingdom (the enemies of Princess Azula's Fire Nation). While Aang wants to continue his training before he challenges the warmongering Fire Nation, General Fong points out to him that all delay only causes more people to suffer during the war: "Every day, the Fire Nation takes lives. People are dying, Aang! You could end it, now." The series exemplifies another political issue: the tension between short-term and long-term political or revolutionary goals.
