This morning, as I went through the poetry sites I read to find poems to share for birthdays, I came across Charles Harper Webb's "Charles Harper Webb IS Dean Martin" on Vox Populi. It refers to various features of the life of "Dino", inclusing his performances at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. A few minutes later, I came across Tomás Q. Morín's "Fighting Weight" in the June issue of Poetry, which spins from the idea of "fighting weight" to boxing matches, especially Sugar Ray Leonard against Marvin Hagler at Caesar's Palace on 6 April 1987 (which Leonard won in a split decision). I like to note such coincidences in my reading. (Andrew Shields, #111Words, 2 June 2026)
