This summer, I'm planning to get our our three-volume edition of the complete "Calvin and Hobbes" comic strips that Bill Watterson drew between 1985 and 1995. I'll do this just for the sheer fun of it, of course: the strip is fantastic from start to finish. But I'll also enjoy sharing favorite strips with my son Miles, who read those three volumes many times when he was about ten to twelve years old. To this day, he corrects me if I misquote the comic. Finally, I will also be preparing something for a course next spring: a session on all the comics where Calvin and Hobbes play their free-for-all game Calvinball.
