Today, four students and I performed a brief set of Grateful Dead tunes for the final session of my Grateful Dead course: with Apo on drums, Paul on bass, Fionn on guitar, Vladimir on guitar, and me on guitar and vocals. After a few technical difficulties, we did a soundcheck with a groove we played at our rehearsal on Monday, and then we played "Box of Rain" (with an extended jam), "Friend of the Devil" (mid-tempo with two guitar solos and a bass solo), and the medley of "Scarlet Begonias" and "Fire on the Mountain". Vladimir then sang a song in Czech before we finished with Bob Dylan's "All Along The Watchtower". (Andrew Shields, #111Words, 27 May 2026)
