Today, I had a jam session with three students from my course on The Grateful Dead: Apo on drums, Paul on bass and guitar, Fionn on guitar and bass, and me on guitar and vocals. We played "Friend of the Devil", "Scarlet Begonias", "Box of Rain", "Uncle John's Band", and "Fire on the Mountain." We were able to get into good jams on "Scarlet Begonias" and "Fire on the Mountain" (separately), and though we haven't worked out all of its details, it was fun to work on "Uncle John's Band." I didn't notice until afterwards that we didn't play any Bob Weir songs, but now I've thought of trying out "Cassidy". (Andrew Shields, #111Words, 20 April 2026)
