The other day, a line from a song crossed my mind: "I don't like spiders and snakes, and that ain't what it takes to love me." The song, "Spiders & Snakes", was written by Jim Stafford and David Bellamy, was released as a single by Stafford in January 1974. When I was nine years old and my family was living in Leamington Spa in England for a year, I heard the song on 2 May 1974, when a music video was featured on Top of the Pops on the BBC.
