When I first saw Korean singer Youn Sun Nah in Basel last November, her repertoire included several songs I love: Grace Slick's "White Rabbit", Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart's "My Funny Valentine", and Tom Waits's "Jockey Full Of Bourbon". At her concert with Brad Christopher Jones (bass), Matthis Pascaud (guitar), and Raphaël Chassin (drums) at the Jazzhaus in Freiburg on Friday, 10 April, her setlist may not have included such favorites, but the concert was again brilliant, with two repeats from Basel (James Shelton's "Lilac Wine" and an extended take on Fiona Apple's "Hot Knife") and a show-stopping performance of the singer's own "Lost Vegas": "Where has all the glory gone?" (Andrew Shields, #111Words, 12 April 2026)
